A new chassis

A new friend arrived in Boulder yesterday, freshly fabricated with a variety of custom tweaks to make it perfect for all my picky bikepacking desires, thanks to the amazingly supportive crew at Salsa Cycles. Say hello to the El Mariachi.

I feel a little guilty for welcoming this beautiful frame into my home but not openly sharing with it the beating it's in for come June. I'm sure my other bikes will fill it in, though.

Sadly, it'll have to wait a couple weeks to be built up. There are some more pressing matters to deal with in the mean time. More pressing like a fresh round of desert Spearfishing.

Sweet! Love the cable routing and that it's full housing. Nice! Did you make that amazing bag too?

You know what would fit that frame just swimmingly? A super-rad Cane Creek ZS44|EC44 headset. Just sayin. But I won't send one until you update the blog logo. Please!

That bag is indeed my own creation. I made it a few weeks ago and was amazed to see it actually fit the new frame perfectly!

Chris, I updated the Cane Creek logo just for you. But the headset you mention won't work here! My frame uses a 1 1/8" headset. I didn't want to go oversize because I specifically want a small amount of flex in the front end to soften up the ride a bit.
