Knee fuss
This morning I rode out to Pearl Izumi to check in with the shoe guys and show them the hike-a-bike shoes I've been testing. My knee hurt a fair bit on the ride home, and I played around with holding my patella in various positions as I pedaled, and some of them really seemed to eliminate the pain until I put my hand back on the bars. Does anyone have any experience using tape to stabilize the patella? I've been reading about the McConnell method, and it seems like it might be worth a try. My PT appointment isn't until early next week, and I'm getting antsy not being able to ride much, but I'm hesitant to do too much beyond my stretching/strengthening regiment.

Kurt have you checked out the cyclingnews.com website? There's a fitness related article on the left hand side of the page about knee pain and solutions. Good article. Good luck!

Thanks, Todd. Interesting overview. I've got an appointment with a physiotherapist on Monday and a fancy (i.e., expensive!) "3D medical bike fit" at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine coming up, so hopefully this'll get figured out!
if everyone says that you have good tracking and bike fit issue consider or ask about plica syndrome... it stumped me & many Pt's for years.
